Agriculture Future of America's mission is to create partnerships that identify, encourage and support outstanding college men and women preparing for careers in the agriculture and food industry.
ProAg of Renville County and the Renville County Corn & Soybean Growers have provided scholarships to individuals to attend the AFA Leaders Conference in the past. Plans are to continue to offer scholarships to future conferences.
The
AFA Leaders Conference provides support for college men and women
who are preparing for careers in agriculture-related fields, while at
the same time supporting the development of human capital for the
agriculture and food industry. Leaders Conference bridges the gap
between academic, leadership and work experiences while helping students
understand the impact of their decisions. The conference also assists
students in developing personal and professional skills necessary for
lifelong success and provides a forum for updates and discussions on
industry trends. Students are given the opportunity to network with
peers and leaders in the agriculture industry as well as increase their
excitement about the future of agriculture by creating awareness about
career opportunities in agriculture.
The annual AFA Leaders Conference is a
three-track program designed to offer college men and
women three different personal and professional development
opportunities spread across and matched to their years in college.
Conference sessions are facilitated by more than 150
nationally recognized leaders in agriculture, business, government and
education. Delegates have the opportunity to expand their personal and
professional portfolios through discussions and training sessions with
industry leaders. These leaders and mentors draw on their personal
experiences as they participate in conference discussion sessions.
An important component of the Leaders Conference, the
AFA Opportunity Fair,
provides a unique environment for human resource representatives to
communicate, advocate and mentor AFA students about opportunities
available within the industry. Corporations, associations
and colleges/universities representing the span of the industry recruit
AFA students for internships, full-time employment and graduate studies.
To be eligible to apply to attend the AFA Leaders Conference, students must meet the following criteria:
- 3.0 GPA or higher
- Attending a four-year institution
- Possess a passion for agriculture
- Plan to pursue a career in the agriculture industry
If you have attended the conference in the past, the AFA is committed to your continued development as a leader. As a return
delegate, AFA may cover up to 70% of your fee to return to Leaders
Conference.
